Head of Plumbing Growth

Mission of the Role:

The Head of Plumbing Growth will serve as the strategic leader and in-house expert overseeing all aspects of our plumbing business. This person will lead our efforts in green-fielding and expanding our plumbing service line at business locations across the country. This is a highly visible and critical role, supporting the executive team, regional operations, GMs, service managers and techs so that Apex becomes a national leader in residential plumbing and drain service. The Head of Plumbing Growth must provide a high-level of service to all stakeholders across Apex Service Partners, most importantly regional partners, GMs, service managers and technicians. This person will be an entrepreneurial go-getter and someone who impassioned about building an exceptional plumbing business.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the senior leadership team and all of our operational leaders, the Head of Plumbing Growth will lead our efforts in building a best-in-class plumbing business across the country. Job responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and ultimately being responsible for Apex Service Partners plumbing and drains business line performance
  • Driving profitable plumbing revenue growth across the business
  • Designing and rolling-out a scalable plumbing and drains service model that can easily be launched at trades businesses not currently offering these services
  • Recruiting, training and developing an exceptional plumbing and drains team consisting of trainers, managers and technicians
  • Building easy-to-manage-to KPIs that drive improved operations and heightened revenue and profits
  • Implementing compensation plans and an employment product that make our business partners the employers of choice in the plumbing and drains industry
  • Launching a price book and training program that results in our businesses delivering premier customer service
  • Delivering expert plumbing and drains counsel to our existing operating partners to help them grow their businesses
  • Advising the senior leadership team and regional management on all plumbing related matters
  • Establishing and implement the proper policies and procedures to adhere to applicable license and code requirements
  • Keeping current on legislation, laws, and legal trends potentially affecting the plumbing business
  • Coordinating with marketing and FP&A to deliver strong and profitable revenue growth
  • Contributing to team culture and effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Modeling the highest ethical standards and Apex’s behaviors at all times as a senior leader in the organization

Experience:
  • The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of broad-based oversight of a leading (greater than $15M revenue) residential plumbing and drain service business
  • Prior P&L ownership responsibility, along with budgeting (P&L and CapEx) and KPI review responsibilities
  • Significant experience with:
  • Recruiting, training and developing tradesmen and managers across all levels of a plumbing organization
  • Managing all aspects of a plumbing business
  • Strong track-record of driving sales growth and executing in tandem with marketing
  • Outstanding executive leadership and management skills in all aspects of a plumbing operation and business environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) with a strong ability to train, recruit and sell
  • Strong familiarity with plumbing codes and license requirements across multiple geographies
